Trying Out

Trying this out,I love language and learning languages, already fluent in seven plus. To the person who deleted this, you can download it again without paying for it again, once you download an app its yours and can download as many times as you want to.

This App is Unloadable after your first few Loads

This app was great until it would not load after some time. I think it has to do with the prompt that asks you to sign up for Japanesepod101 when you first load it (e.g. will crash the 3rd time, or the next day after you cancel out of all those prompts). The cycle will repeat if you reinstall it. Please fix!

Suggestion!

Just got this app. Enjoying it so far, but I already have a minor suggestion. The "Family" category completely glosses over whether the word given is used in relation to ones own family or to anothers family. For instance, the differences between "otousan" and "chichi" or "okaasan" and "haha" are sort of important. Please consider fixing this as I have to keep referring to another app if Im not sure which is which. Also, do I really get a splash screen ad nagging me every time I return to the app? Not cool. Other than that, Im enjoying it, especially the sound files. This is where apps shine over books, in my opinion. I may never buy another language book again.

No audio

Got the new version and theres no audio now. The old version had potential but its not configurable enough. Im staying with my generic flash card app which has tons if configuration options.

It doesnt work!

Audio does not work on either my iPhone or iPad. E-mails to the developer are unanswered after 36 hours. Definitely not worth $9.99.

Crashes

Crashes within minutes of initializing. Havent been able to create a word bank because it crashes before I can save.

Major update

Ive had the full version of this app for a few years to help with my Japanese. It was really useful but definitely lacked in some areas. I updated to the this new version last week and they seem to have totally redone the app and added a lot of new words which is awesome. Some words have links to Wikipedia articles so you can learn more about the cultural aspects. I also really like the word a day push notifications. Super solid improvement.

Wt..

What happened? I had about 300 words I had memorized. I was able to keep track of them by subjects. The new update looks nice, but you scattered my vocab all over differently grouped sets of vocab. its so hard to find all my words again. A very sarcastic thanks a lot to you.

Dont Pay For This

Irrelevant words, only 1-10 words in a category??? What?!!!! Audio quit working. Could be a nice app, but in talking to native speakers I dont see how I can jump into the conversation with a name of a past political figure or of the Japanese Red Cross Society. Rather than being motivational, the effect is just the opposite. WASTED MY MONEY.

Word power

I find this Japanese training program halarious LOL!! Most words are Japlish and have absolutely nothing to do with learning spoken Japanese! LOL! Tim Slough

Every day

Everyday, theres something new to learn, to try, to read. Japanese writing doesnt come easy, but speaking is so much fun.

Helpful

If you dont know kanji, it takes some figuring out to display flash cards without it, but once you do, it is great!

Good way to engage

I like the approach, its helpful for learning, but it gets too advanced for my beginner knowledge quickly. Maybe thats not bad, but it can be disheartening. Wish there was a tourist and beginner mode to choose.

A necessity...

Absolutely love it!

Awesome app..

This app is amazing. I am actually using the Japanese pod 101 website to study Japanese, and this app is a great supplement to using that resources well. Love it

Very educational

This a perfect app to help a beginner in learning japanese, especially if you know hiragana, kanji, and katakana.

Nihongo

Amazing lots to learn from it, one thing though is Id like to know what the kanji by itself means. Idk if they have that but. Thats be so helpful

Exceptionally well filled with content

Its clean, its clear, and it has enough stuff to keep you learning for a long time.

Helpful

Even though its a beginners app, it helps with talking to the locals. It also helps with tv shows and anime if you are up to that.

Abandonware?

Audio flashcards do not work on IOS7, the replay button is grayed out. I reported this bug to the developers ages ago but nothing has happened. Im wondering if they are still supporting this app. It worked great on IOS6.
